#dosomethingyummy – Week 4

I’ve been thinking and thinking about what to write for this final #dosomethingyummy promt by the rather lovely Nickie, and I have to say a gazzillion survival posts came into my head but I knew I just couldn’t share them on here.

My blog is part of my parenting website, and while I do get pretty personal sometimes (I mean I shared my son’s birth with the whole world tweet by tweet) I don’t really share my life story here. I just share interesting Childcare related posts or funny stories that often feature my littlies.

So… A survival story, as requested, and in support of such a fantastic charity.

Survival…

December 18th 2005, I marry my best friend. Soppy? Yup.

He makes me laugh and feel wonderful and we share good times (and bad) and so much more that I won’t bore you with, but my husband is my soul mate for sure and has been for 12 years now.

We have a wonderful life in London (back then, – we now live in the Ford’), good careers, good times, nice house, a dog, a cat and… We think about having children.

Fast forward a couple of years of trying and we are told it’s pretty unlikely we’ll have children. My fault. I’m broken. My bits are dodgy with PCOS and endemetriosis. Oh the joy.

Broken lady.

So we talk, and I’m a mess, and he’s there. He’s supportive, unblaming, non-judging, silly, funny, normal and we decide whatever happens we will become parents. No matter which path we follow, we will try and try until we reach our dream. He fixed everything that day and helped me move onwards and upwards to a happier place.

On 18th September 2009 I gave birth to Elizabeth Stone. Our beautiful little Betsy-Boo!

On 17th September 2010 I gave birth to Oscar Stone. Our little Oscie Boy.

Everyday I am grateful for being blessed with not one, but two wonderful, funny, beautiful little people who are my whole world.

I survived the worst news I thought I’d ever hear. “You can’t have children”

For those that have never been through infertility it probably sounds like a silly survival story. Nobody died (well not physically, but a huge part of me did for a while) and it was a happy ending. Yet for so many infertile couples the sadness continues. Money spent, dreams shattered and years pass them by childless.

I’m hoping my story inspires. Dreams really do come true sometimes.

Now in true naffness, I’m posting a You Tube slushy song that means the world to me, (live at Glastonbury watched with my hubs – my favourite place in the world) but before I do I’d like to say thanks to the lovelies that have headed and joined in this wonderful #dosomethingyummy blogging. Thanks for sharing such amazing and often inspiring stories and promoting such a fantastic charity.
