Sport relief 2014

It’s the time of year when those who are sporty and those less so, do domething awesome for charity, and my lovelies – that awesome this year for me and some other wonderful bloggers is the #TeamHonkRelay!

The first ever Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Games take place from Friday 21st to Sunday 23rd March 2014. The public can join the fun and games by running, swimming or cycling their way to raising cash at over a thousand venues around the country, including the landmark events at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

As one of the biggest fundraising events, Sport Relief brings the entire nation together to get active raise cash and change lives. The money raised by the public is spent by Comic Relief to help transform the lives of some of the poorest and most disadvantaged people both at home in the UK and across the world.

Team Honk Relay

This year Sport relief 2014 sees a blogging community coming together to run, walk, skate, swim, run, cycle, dance and travel by car and train from Lands end to John o’Groats!

I’m part of Team honk Birmingham and together with my other awesome team mates we are covering some mighty fine miles!

I’ve partnered up with the super foody blogger that is Helen from Crazy kitchen and 16th February myself and Helen will be cycling, dancing, and traveling with the Team Honk Relay baton, 110 miles cross country to Peterborough to hand it on to the next relay team.

Helen will collect the baton from Cannock on Friday night and take it to the pub in Hixon were I’ll meet her for a cake selling, and a quick pint of cycling-warm-up beer in preparation for the next day!

9am sees a crazy cycle around country lanes from Hixon to Stafford station. We will be joined by lots of willing cyclists and have cheering support on route too – which is pretty awesome!

We are then going to be greeted at Stafford station by a Zumba flashmob dance which we will be joining in with.

After that little zumbatasticness, I’ll pop on my roller skates and with Helen, we’ll start selling her amazing cakes and cookies at the station. I’ve not skated for about 20 years so it could be interesting!

We will then board a train to Nuneaton (tickets kindly donated by the awesome lovelies at Virgin trains Stafford.) At Nuneaton we’ll sell more cakes/craft packs then back on the train to Peterborough where we will hand over the baton.

We shall do all this while dressed as the cookie monster (Helen) and Elmo (me.)

If you would like to sponsor us for our crazy but a little-bit awesome sporty efforts, you can find our Birmingham team sponsor page here.
