Bendy Boo kicks her HMS popping into the past… Hopefully!

For those of you who follow little Boo’s story of Hypermobility you’ll know she’s come along way since being diagnosed.

Her weekly dislocations have dropped right down- so much so, she’s not dislocated for 9 weeks!

9 whole weeks of no popping! How awesome is that?

Today was our regular visit to see her consultant and today she was referred back to the heart specialist once again. You see her special heart needs looking after and the HMS consultant wants another scan and regular checks.

I’m happy that we have such a thorough consultant and that Boo is receiving the best care possible. But I do wish that she didn’t have any of these problems.

I keep telling myself it could be a whole lot worse. We know lots of truly amazing children going through a whole lot worse and we are lucky that popping and a dodgy heart valve are minor in comparison.

Boo gets tired easily, she has pain often and her joints and her fingers lock. She dislocates too, and when she’s poorly she feels worse than the rest of us. But, as ever – we don’t wrap Boo up in cotton wool.

She still does her daily physio. Still bounces like a kangaroo on the trampoline. And still scoots at full speed when we walk the dog. She climbs trees, swings from the monkey bars and does the splits on the kitchen floor!

She’s our bendy boo – a brave, awesome little girl who just happens to have a rubbish condition called HMS.

So today we are celebrating progress (of course this meant cake from the hospital bakery!) A good appointment and 9 whole weeks of no popping! How awesome is that?

Let’s hope we can leave the HMS popping in the past.
