I love music and that love of music has passed on to my two little ones aged 3 and 4.
From indie classics to pop we can regularly be found dancing in the kitchen or singing at the top of our voices in the car. So imagine my horror on playing the latest NOW (86) album to be faced with words of an adult nature.
Horrified!
Something that was a fun moment with music has left me feeling disappointed with NOW and their lack of responsibility to their customers – especially young children.
The non following of the Parental Advisory Label Program is just unacceptable.
The Parental Advisory Label program is a tool to help parents make the choice about when and whether their children should be able to listen to a particular recording.
If the label had been there – I’d have known to check the songs for myself first or to perhaps not buy the CD at all!
Music is a wonderful communication tool. It gives parents a chance of talking to their older children about the type of music they like, what the songs are about and so much more.
Without clear warnings on CDs and downloads, how can we as parents, be sure what our children are listening to – is age appropriate or safe?
What do you think? Should NOW have used the Parental Advisory Label?
Kerry
Yes totally, as it would influence whether we would play it around Baba andat 5 he is getting into CDs and I would have brought something like NOW for him now I don’t think I will so freely xx
