I love getting nice letters and cards and I know the littlies do too, but sadly, nowadays, it’s very rare except for birthdays and Christmas.
What better way to receive cards and letters everyday than to make your very own postbox!
The lovely Jennie over at Edspire was asking if anyone knew where to buy a toy postbox for her twins to send letters to each other.
I suggested making one for them and promised to write a little easy tutorial on how to. So here it is!
You’ll need:
•A large box
•Children’s poster Paint
•Stickers or glitter to decorate
•Bottle top
•Paper and pens for writing letters
•Envelopes
•Stampers
How to:
Mark out the post panel at the front, and a back door panel and cut using scissors or a sharp knife.
Secure a handle at the back for easy opening to get posted letters out. We used the top of a bubble bottle but you can use any bottle top.
Paint the box all over and decorate with the stickers once dry.
You can copy the Royal Mail boxes or create your own designs.
We decided to name our postbox The Happy mailbox.
We’re going to use it to post eachother nice paintings, pictures and drawings, and we’ll also fill it with letters to family and friends so that when they come over they’ll be able to have their happy mail!
The littlies took great delight in writing each other letters and putting them into the envelopes.
We used a stamp kit to create a postal stamp, Oz got a little carried away with his! He overpaid the postal service fee!
It was lovely watching them both post their letters and then open them later before bathtume. Oz even ‘read’ his out loud saying it said ‘Dear Oscie, I love you!’
I thought that was really lovely!
We love getting nice letters and cards – and now we really love getting happy mail!
