Toffee apples are a bit of a naughty treat that we love to have on movie afternoons, at parties or halloween. They can be quite tricky to make and the liquid gets dangerously hot so please be careful when making them around little ones.
You’ll need:
5 small to medium apples, washed and dried
2 cups sugar (white or brown)
4oz butter
1 tbs white wine vinegar
Sticks or lolly holders
Sprinkles for decorating
How to:
1. Put the butter, sugar and vinegar into a pan andheat.
Now this can be tricky – our first batch went wrong, so you need to ensure you don’t overheat the mix.
2. When it’s ready (to find out if its ready too a teaspoon of mix into cold water – if it hardens, its ready) take off the heat, and dip your apples (with lolly sticks in) into the mix and cover then quickly into the sprinkles.
BE VERY CAREFUL – it’s dangerously hot so keep children away.
3. The mix sets very quickly so you’ll need to move fast.
4. Leave to harden then enjoy!
