For me, Mother’s Day is about spending time with my mum and my little ones rather than the gifts.
Having said that, it’s always nice to give a little something and I love giving (and receiving) gifts that are homemade with love.
This ‘mums happy jar’ came out of my ‘happiness jar’ project – our jar in the kitchen where we pop all of our happy memories into a jar all year through, and read them back on New Year’s Eve.
This jar is similar to that – only it ensures you get quality time with mum and that mum gets some time off!
Simply fill the jar with notes full of ideas for quality time, quality moments, and ‘mums time off’ and mum gets to cash them in over the year!
For children giving to mummy it could be ‘mums night off – so the children do the dishes! For adults giving to their mum it can be ‘child free coffee and catch up’ for mum to cash in for some undisturbed quality time together.
A simple but lovely gift that doesn’t cost the earth!
