I love, love, love the summer, not because the daily routine of pre-school runs are on hold, but because for us, summer means it’s time to head to our favourite family festival Camp Bestival!
Family friendly festival
Richie and I have been going to festivals since 2000 (pre-children) so when the little loves came along we missed that summer vibe so much – that we braved our first festival in Wales with a baby and toddler! Although they were teeny back then, they had so much fun, and we decided our festival summers would continue as a family of four always!
There’s something so special about attending a festival as a family. That laid back, reconnecting, summer-happy-vibe is something I wish I could bottle up and drink all year long!
With this in mind, we headed off to our first Camp Bestival a few years ago after hearing how family friendly it was and we just loved it. Now each year, we pack up our festival essentials and head back to our favourite festival in Dorset for four days of festival magic.
Camp Bestival is what family festival dreams are made of – family friendly activities, great bands (you can see the line-up here,) and camping conditions to smile about.
Each year there’s an awesome theme and the little loves love dressing up and getting involved! This years theme is ‘Heroes V super heroes’ – they’ve asked me to wear my full fire fighter kit but I think I might get a bit sweaty in the summer sun so I’ve something a little Bowie related in mind! (He’s a hero of mine!)
Family camping
All campsites open on Thursday to give you an extra day to arrive early and set up camp, settle in and plan your itinerary before the main entertainment begins on Friday morning.
The Main Campsites are located near to the Magic Meadow field and you just need to turn up, pick your space and park your own tent. Camping in the Main Campsites is included free with your event ticket. This area has been divided up into 2 coloured zones, Purple and Yellow… just to help you find your tent. Most of the area in these campsites is for family camping although there will also be a signed area which is for non-families.
Each camping field have their own sets of showers, loos (many of which will be of the eco-friendly and non-smelly compostable variety), tasty food stalls, recycling points and more. How awesome is that lovely faces?
You can also upgrade at a cost to other camping areas details of which are here.
