Stafford Gatehouse Theatre has sent a Sleeping Beauty doll around the world in the run-up to this year’s Christmas Rock ’n’ Roll Panto. The doll will have its photo taken with Gatehouse fans, in remarkable or unexpected locations around the globe, to promote the classic Sleeping Beauty fairy tale told with a rock ’n’ roll twist.
Stafford Gatehouse Theatre is one of only five theatres in the country that offer a Rock ’n’ Roll pantomime. This year, internationally renowned theatre director Paulette Randall is giving the classic story of Sleeping Beauty a rocking makeover.
Randall was the associate director of the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics and the first black British woman to direct a play in London’s West End. On this project, she will be working alongside a multitalented cast of actor musicians. The Sleeping Beauty Rock ’n’ Roll Panto can be seen at the Stafford Gatehouse Theatre between December 11, 2013 and January 11, 2014.
To celebrate this year’s remarkable cast and director, Stafford Gatehouse is inviting theatre enthusiasts from around the world to meet and photograph themselves with the cuddly version of the fairy tale heroine.
“The Rock ‘n’ Roll Panto is one of the most exciting projects we work on each year and we would love to share this energy with our audience and theatre enthusiasts everywhere,” says Emma Hogan, Press and Marketing Officer at the Stafford Gatehouse Theatre.
“We’re inviting people to get involved and share their take on this classic fairy tale,” Emma continues. “Christmas always brings out our desire to play and enjoy life’s simple pleasures and this is an opportunity to do just that. We’d love it if the audience would embrace this game and contribute to making the story of this year’s panto their own.”
If you would like to help The Stafford Gatehouse’s rock ’n’ roll heroine on her travels, please contact Emma Hogan by email on [email protected] or by tweeting them using the hashtag #staffordpanto. The local and global travels of Sleeping Beauty will also be featured on the Stafford Gatehouse Theatre blog, Facebook and Twitter page.
The Sleeping Beauty Rock ’n’ Roll Panto opens on December 11, 2013 and runs until January 11, 2014.
