We love Ladram Bay holiday park!

Ladram Bay holiday park | Family holidays in Devon | Budget family holiday UK

What a wonderful Easter holiday we have had. Truly lovely.

I’m going to be totally honest here and sound like a right holiday snob, but the idea of a caravan holiday on a holiday park didn’t really appeal to me.

However, when the lovelies at Ladram bay holiday park got in touch and offered my family and I a five day break to review their family run park in Devon, I thought I’d give holiday parks a chance.

How wrong I was about holiday parks! This holiday is going down as one of our most fun and magical memory making breaks as a family. We had SO much fun!

Ladram Bay Holiday Park

Ladram Bay is one of the largest privately owned holiday parks in the UK. Voted by Hoseasons Holiday customers as WINNER, Best Holiday Park in Britain in 2011. The park has its own private sand-washed pebble beach set in a secluded sheltered bay, that is perfect for all types of sea sports and activities.

As for the caravan – how wrong could I be? It was not the rickety 80’s model I’d expected from my childhood holidays, but a swish, beautifully kitted out ‘unit’ with 3 bedrooms, two toilets and a fab shower. Our particular holiday home fitted the 6 of us and 2 small dogs in it very comfortably with it’s dining area, living room and kitchen.

The hot tub in it’s own little gated area was fab at the end of a long busy day, and busy days they were – Ladram Park has so much to offer, the only problem was fitting it all in! All centrally located on the park are:

  • Ladram holiday parks own private sheltered beach (totally gorgeous with wonderul rock pools full of little sealife!)
  • Large heated indoor swimming pool, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi and interactive play area** (totally brilliant, clean and family friendly – a total hit with us!)
  • Waves Nightspot and Bar (The boys tell me watching footy one night here was fab.)
  • Evening entertainment seven days a week
  • Pirates amusement arcade (Oz and Betsy won 6 teddies and totally loved the penny slot machines!)
  • Pebbles Restaurant serving international cuisine with a balcony overlooking the bay (Fab food – more on this later)
  • Centrally located shopping complex including mini market and gift shop (surpisingly cheap with everything you could possibly want or need to buy while away from home)
  • Coast takeaway (The loveliest fish and chips!)
  • Seaview Shack for all day light bites beach food (This was undergoing renovation so we didn’t see it.)
  • Jurassic Adventure Golf course (Small fee but super fun,  – Nanna came first!)
  • Soft play area (My two were delighted to have this all to themselves!)
  • Outdoor adventure playground including an Under 7’s play area (The huge play pirate ship was a winner – so much fun!)
  • Large sports field (Great for a run around!)
  • Free WiFi in the Three Rocks complex (we couldn’t connect but I’m thinking it was due to ongoing renovations while we were there.)
  • Ozzie’s Kids club
  • Kayaks, rowing and motor boat hire from the beach
  • Fishing from our boats or the shore, day and night
  • Reception staffed a minimum of 10 hours a day to answer your enquiries (Super friendly and go out of their way to help you!)
  • WiFi available in your accommodation (Charges apply for Wi-Fi in accommodation and access is specific to one device at a time.  Wi-Fi speeds are not suitable for downloading or streaming.)
  • Launderette

Ladram Bay holiday park | Family holidays in Devon | Budget family holiday UKOur Top Five Ladram Bay Favourites!

The swimming pool: The newly renovated kids splash pool is so much fun – ideal for young children as it’s shallow. My two loved the water jets, dunkers and slide – getting them out of the pool was a tough job!

Jurassic Adventure Golf course: We had a giggle playing on the newly built crazy golf course which for the 6 of us cost £17.50 – not bad at all! The dinosaur theme pleased little Oz who even managed one hole in only 3! not bad for a 4 year old. Daddy of course cheated – but he’ll deny that.

Pebbles Restaurant: We enjoyed a three course dinner and several lunches (two of which we sat outside on the balcony soaking up the sunshine and sea views) and the food was wonderful. It certainly exceeded all our of expectations with an array of culinary delights on offer. My mum had a beautiful Salmon dish which she said was the nicest she had ever had. I opted for Steak for dinner which was cooked to perfection and was served beautifully.

The restaurant offers a variety of foods for those with special dietary requirements. My dad has to now follow a Gluten free diet and my husband is vegetarian. There was plenty of choice for them both.

I was pleased to see that the children’s menu offered not just the standard fishfingers and chips but pasta too. The spaghetti bolognese sauce was a little dry for them but they ate well and enjoyed it. (I tasted it and it was delicious!)

The beach: Totally stunning as you can see from the photos and one of our favourite hangouts in any kind of weather! We went in drizzle and threw pebbles out to sea, we ran on the beach in the fog and then we paddled, rock pooled and made castles in the glorious sunshine.

Our holiday home: Prices are very reasonable and based ‘per unit’ rather than per person, fab for families looking for holidays on a budget. Our unit was fab. We were so pleased with the layout and the hot tub outside was delightful. The whole of Ladram park is beautifully clean and maintained to a high standard, and our unit was clean and comfortable with everything we needed during our stay.
