Chocolate, Orange and Cherry creams!

I’m on a roll with my ‘Homemade Christmas’ challenge! Budge over Allsop – there’s a new domestic goddess around.  Well, kind of.

These Chocolate orange creams are an adaptation of peppermint creams. They are my VERY OWN recipe and I think will make fab little gifts – ideal for littlies to make for grandparents or teachers this Christmas!

They are so easy to make and decorate even with very little ones (my Two and Three year old loved making them!)  Pop the finished creams into a decorated jar or box for a thoughtful present. Simples!

You’ll need:

 500g (1lb 2oz) icing sugar, sifted

1 egg white, stiffly whipped

1-2tsp freshly squeezed orange juice

1 tbsl spoon of cocoa powder

To decorate: (optional)

  • silver edible balls
  • edible food glitter
  • Glazed Cherries

 Method

  • Mix together the icing sugar, egg white, orange juice and cocoa powder until you have the texture of pastry.

  • Knead well so that the mixture is smooth, then roll out on a work surface lightly dusted with icing sugar to a thickness of 1cm (½in).

  • Roll into small balls the size of a pound coin.

  • Pop them on a piece of greaseproof paper and decorate (we used Cherries!)

  •  Leave to harden for 12 hours or overnight.

Once the creams have hardened, put them into decorative boxes and give as Christmas presents (or eat them yourself as a pre-Christmas treat!)
