First time at Camp Bestival and no idea where to start or what to do while you’re there? Don’t stress! Here’s our A -Z of awesome to help you make the very best of your time at the best family festival in the UK.

A is for Alison 

We love, love, love Alison Moyet – her beautiful tones are soothing and powerful all at the same time. If you’ve never heard this lady sing – you NEED to get on over to hear her. Pop a mark on your gig planner and don’t miss her! 

B is for Bushcraft

One for Festy goers both big and small! Head on over to the Dingly Dell and learn the skills required to develop enjoyment and understanding of the natural environment! 

C is for Carnival Parades

Shademakers wild parade of weird, wild and wonderful creatures will head out at morning and dusk each day led by drumming maestros Batala Portsmouth. You can also join in their Carnival Dance Workshops in Bollywood on Saturday and Sunday mornings to learn all the moves! 

D is for Den Building! 

We love Den building and if you do too – you’ll love this! Join expert Woodland Warriors in some serious den-making and interior-design action over in the woodland. They’ll even look after your den for you so you can pop back and add more to it over your stay! How ace is that? 

E is for Ella

Ella Henderson of XFactor fame has done mighty fine things since she appeared on the Xfactor 3 years ago. Topping the UK charts with her debut single ‘Ghost’ and her debut album ‘Chapter One’ – Ella is a must watch at this years festival! Get your dancing pants ready! 

F is for Food

Food. Oh my word the food. Last year we were blown away by the variety of food availablecamp bestival | camp bestival 2014 highlights | camp bestival 2014 and came home 10 stone heavier (not really – but it felt that way!)

With offerings such as wood fired pizza and wonderful fresh pots of fruit and cream (little Oz’s favourite) there really is so much goodness on offer for families. Have a little look here for the full list of foody fabness and don’t forget to pack the elasticated trousers! 

 

 

G is for Guardian

The guardian not only proudly support this years festival – they have a rather awesome ‘wake up with the Guardian’ daily event.

Grab a coffee, a paper and nessle into a sofa to wake up with your very own Guardian host. 

H is for Hideaway

If it’s all getting a bit much for you – head on over to the new Hideaway this year! The Hideaway Wellness Retreat & Spa  – curated by the Wild Wellbeing team, is nestled in the campsites by the entrance to the Magic Meadow.

And relax. Ahhh.

Bug crazy? Insect mad? you’ll love the insect circus! Performances from this awesome crew will be scheduled twice daily, plus don’t forget to pay a visit to the inimitable Insect Circus Museum, which will be open before and after every performance! 

 

J is for Jungle Book bedtime story! 

The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling is one of our favourite stories and Camp Bestival are offering bedtime storytelling at it’s very best read by four very special guests! To find out who head on over here. 

K is for Kaiser Chiefs

I’m just a teeny bit excited about this. 

Ok , I’m hugely excited about this.

Having seen the Kaiser Chiefs perform at a few festivals now – I can highly recommend watching them liven up the stage as the headliners on Saturday night! Get your glow sticks, dancing pants and sing-along voices at the ready. It’s going to be an indie-rock-n-roll show of awesome! All together now ‘I predict a riot! I predict a riot!’

Llama agility! This is one thing you can’t miss! Take a llama around an obstacle course.

I kid you not. They’ll even give you a hug at the end. Brilliant.

M is for Morris Dancers

No British summer is complete without Morris Dancers right? At Camp Bestival you’ll see some bell jigling foot tapping Morris dancers arund the castle. Join in! Jump along! 

 

N is for Nutty’s Disco! 

Love having a good old boogie? Love dancing games? Then you’ll love the Nutty’s Disco at the Bollywood Tent! Join DJ Danny Nutt as he spins his dance-tastic selection of funky tunes! 

O is for Only The Young

Xfactor brought us this lively foursome last year and made us shake it like a Polaroid picture during their performances. Now they’re gracing the Camp B stage with a promise to get us all dancing again! One not to miss! 

P is for Professor Green

This fella has a way withwords and we are rather excited to see him perform huge hits such as ‘Read All About It’ and ‘Need you Tonight’ at this years Camp Bestival. 

Q is for quiet time 

Camp Bestival is an exciting bundle of fun from start to finish, but there are times when you need to chill. Our favourite place is to head over to the upper kids garden where circusCamp Bestival | what to do at Camp Bestival | Best things to see at Camp Bestival the little ones can play under our watchful eye while we sup on a cocktail or two from Josie Da Banks Jam Jar Bar!

R is for Royal Albert Hall

Love orchestral music? you’ll love this! The world renowned Royal Albert Hall are returning to Camp Bestival this year with some orchestral musical marvels to get us all up and dancing. 

S is for Skipping

I was quite the super-skipper as a child – so Skipteam are on my spot list for this years festival. Find them transforming spaces in the Upper Kids’ Garden into pop-up, SKIP drop-ins!

T is for Tumble

Oh how we love Mr Tumble aka Justin Fletcher. Having chatted to him on several occasions and seen him perform live many times – he really is the one to watch this summer at Camp Bestival. My two are 4&5 and still adore the funny fella. All together now let’s call out for him… ‘MR TUMBLE!’

With the typically British summer always comes a little rain, but also comes super hot sunshine! Pack an umbrella for both sunshade and rain showers and head out for an adventure in the wonderful Dingly Dell.  

There’s so much undercover stuff to – so don’t stay in your tent listening to the rain or hiding from the sun!

 

V is for Very nice Wine

Love wine as much as we do? Then head on over to The Knackered Mother’s Wine Club – hosted by the rather lovely Helen McGinn. Taste some wine, buy a glass or two, and even Register your interest in a Wine Tasting event on the Saturday here!

W is for West End Kids

These lovelies were pretty awesome last year so do head on over to watch them this year at Camp Bestival! Performing some of the most loved West End classics to sing along to – this is for any West End show fan!

They’ll even be running a series of dance workshops, so those budding young performers in the audience can try their hand at taking centre stage. Awesome! 

X is for ‘X marks the spot!’

Camp Bestival is big so you’ll need a map! (See what we did there? X marks the spot? Ah dear.)

Preparation is the key to a good festival. You’ll not miss all of the wonderful things you want to see and do if you have a map to know which way to go! Head over here to download your very own Camp Bestival map.

 

Y is for Yoga

Not just your regular yoga – oh nooo – this is Disco yoga over in the Den. All levels are welcome and if you’ve always wanted to try yoga this class is the perfect opportunity with it’s fun twist on the practice.

Z is for Zoo-less!

 

It’s all about being Wild! The Camp Bestival crew are going all out to make Lulworth Castle the wildest place on earth this summer and you are invited to show your wild side too!

Fancy dress has always been a big part of camp Bestival – so get those costumes ready and show your wild side! No need to brush your hair – wild is IN this summer!
