#Borntoplay – What a fantabulous morning’s play!

Born to play! What a day!

After weeks of organising the day finally came and the rain didn’t, and I was totally blown away by the amount of parents, grandparents and children that turned up to have a funtabulous time, even with grey skies looming overhead!

Magical fun!

The play date kicked off with a very entertaining magic show from Tony and Tink. The children all joined in and won sweets and balloon models for their efforts! During the show the Lord Mayor and Mayoress of Stafford Borough came along as guests of honour and to draw our grand raffle!

Baby Sensory and toddler sense…

After 45 minutes of magic it was time for the lovely Becky and Jayne to start their baby sensory (inside) and toddler sense (outside) classes which were very busy indeed! Lots of dancing babies, toddlers and smiling faces was so great to see! Even the parents were singing along, dancing and joining in- it was a great atmosphere!

Showing the Mayor and Mayoress around was my job, and although I have to admit I was a little nervous, they made me feel so relaxed by getting involved with the fun going on around them. The Mayor had a go on the hoopla stall while the Mayoress went and watched the baby sensory class and had a chat with local artist Jennifer Collier who was running a free art workshop all morning.

During my time with the Mayoress, I showed her how to Tweet! The Mayor soon became interested too and we live tweeted to the Childcare is Fun followers which he thought was rather splendid!

Lots to do and see!

After the 45 minute sensory classes, everybody moved around the various stalls including face painting by Clare from DK Management and productions (hugely popular, and fabulous designs,) hair braiding by my lovely sister-in-law Lynda, Osborne books that offered a free book competition (thanks Liz!) And the ever popular cakes by Sweet Amore cakes! Oh those cakes were so good! So good in fact, that the Mayor and Mayoress bought a whole box full of them!

The rain held off and the sun came out a few times too, but the grey skies didn’t put anybody of joining in the fun!

Fire – engine fun!

When the Fire-brigade arrived there was a big wave of excitement amongst the littlies (and a few mums!) The White watch from Stafford Fire Brigade were fantastic with the children and gave out goody bags with information on fire-safety. They even offered free home checks which many parents signed up for, including myself. (If you live in Staffordshire and would like a free fire safety check email your name, address and contact details here and I’ll forward to Staffordshire fire-service.)

Miss B loved the fire-engine! She sat inside for what seemed like forever and it was tricky getting her out! A great big thanks to white watch for taking the time out of their busy day to come and make lots of littlies very happy!

Raffle prizes galore!

The raffle ended the morning’s fun and the fantastic prizes donated by wonderful companies were handed out to lucky winners. I’m so pleased to announce that the morning raised almost £700! How fantabulous is that?!

Thank You!

I’d like to take this opportunity to say a great big thank you for everybody that has been involved with this very special play date and for all the fantastic prize donations from both big and small companies. I’ll be writing a seperate blog post thanking each and every one of those wonderful prize donators, but for now I just want to give you a big virtual hug and say thank you from the bottom of my heart.

For those still wanting to donate- it’s never too late! You can donate here to up our fabulous amount. It’s so easy and just takes 5 minutes I promise!
