As any parent knows, traveling with littlies can be expensive.

Mum of two, Emma Wisnia decided enough was enough after holidaying with her two boys one year and set up a website called Baby Holidays with her parents and brother to help parents cut the costs of traveling abroad with their children.

Emma told us,

“I developed the business after bad experiences of travelling abroad with a small child. I didn’t want other parents to find the frustrations I did without knowing there was an alternative.

The sorts of things that were a challenge were as follows:

·         How do I carry a buggy, a car seat, a baby, a baby bag, my hand luggage, suitcases and all the excess baggage (turns out to be an average of 15kg for a two week holiday) for my baby?

·         The extortionate excess baggage charges which airlines will do their very best to charge if they can.

·         The very high price of buying UK goods abroad. I wanted a HIPP Organic jar of baby food in Mallorca and I paid £2.20 instead of the 67p I pay at home.

·         Not knowing if the destination I was going to would have the right milk for my baby i.e. the one he had at home

I spoke with a lot of my peers – friends, work colleagues, people I just got chatting to in play centres – and they mostly agreed that there was something that needed to be done.”

 

We could’nt agree more! After a recent holiday to Tenerife, my husband I were faced with charges for cots, highchairs and baby food! Not easy on the wallet when you have already paid out for a family holiday!

“We also try to use recycled packaging wherever we can to offset our carbon footprint. I think it’s important for people to know that we are doing our best to be green and we are quite passionate about it. It’s amazing how much stuff you can pack into a very small box if you really focus your mind!” Emma told us.
